Norbert Shannon RIP

Norbert Shannon RIP
27 January 2023

It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of former Union President Norbert Shannon.

Norbert was the oldest surviving union president and presided over the Union between 1984 & 1986.

He had been living in Avoca Co. Wicklow and always contended that the fresh air and avoiding conflict was a sure way of a long and enjoyable life.

For those lucky enough to have met him would have known Norbert as someone with a great sense of humor and humility and a great story teller too.

In his professional life, Norbert was an Architect in Bank of Ireland and was also former officer in the FCA

In the Union he was secretary in the Sixties before Greg Hand took over and then assumed presidency in 1984.
