1 April 2012
Friday 30th March 2012
Congratulations to the Present golf team who defeated the Past Pupils team at the Grange Golf Club. Captained by Andrew McEvoy (6th year) the pupils won by 10 points. The Fr. Paddy Byrne trophy has returned to the safe keeping of the school after a number of years in the hands of the past pupils.
In calm conditions with the Grange looking in great condition the scoring was high for the competition that was saw best ball stableford aggregated to give the winning team from the four fourballs. The first fourball saw Andrew and Conor Stone (5th Year) lose by 3 points to Andrew and Iain Pitcher (2002) who scored 39 points. The second group saw Killian Lynsky and Tyrone Kane prove too strong for Alan Sullivan and John Fitzpatrick (both 1984). The students won by 10 points.
Captain David Harrison (1985) and Gerard Burke (1991) played very well to defeat Lochlain Garvey (5th Year) and Evan McGovern (4th) by 4 points.
The final group saw William Lillis and Alan Doyle (6th year) overcome Michael Hennigan (1984) and Adrian Murphy (1990) by 4 points.
As always many thanks to Eamon O’Brien for organising the Grange and to the catering staff who provided such a wonderful meal.
